Baby Joshua | Fort Mill, SC | Newborn Photography | yah Photography by Kelli Conley

I think it is so awesome how big yet small the world is! I moved clear across the country (from CA to SC) and ended up working with Mike and Lisa at BB&T and turns out Lisa is from CA too and her and Mike lived there awhile before they moved to the Carolina's. They what is even more awesome is that when they decided to have their baby they chose me, out of all the other photographers they could have, to photograph these memories for them! When we did both the maternity and newborn session, we worked to incorporate some heirlooms that Mike had from when he was a baby. We used his first pair of shoes in the maternity session, and the his favorite stuffed animal during the newborn session. (And if you know me and my husband, we love anything vintage and with a significance so this really took the cake). Michael and Lisa are honestly the sweetest people and I know that little Joshua will be loved to the moon and back by the two of them! 2014-03-19_0001 2014-03-19_0002 2014-03-19_0003 2014-03-19_0004 2014-03-19_0005

Fun Ideas for Your Engagement Session by Kelli Conley

For any of you who do not know, an engagement session is a photo shoot sometime after a couple is engaged. It is a good way for them to get to know their photographer better, get comfortable behind the camera, as well as get some amazing pictures of themselves in addition to their wedding photos. When it comes to engagement sessions I love to have fun with my couples. Because this session is really laid back and carefree I always make it a point to find out things about them that we can incorporate. Whether it is playing their favorite board game together, watching sports, drinking coffee, or just relaxing together. These are the things that make their relationship what it is today, and what can be more fun that incorporating that into the session. Below are some examples of things that our couples do together that we were able to come along for the ride and capture them enjoying what they love… together! 2014-03-16_00032014-03-16_0005 To see their full blog post click here.2014-03-16_0001 To see their full blog post click here2014-03-16_0002 To see their full blog post click here2014-03-16_0004

Family Pictures at your Wedding by Kelli Conley

We all know that Family pictures on the wedding day are a must. Family is what got us to where we are on that day and we want their involvement in our life to be documented on that day. I have a couple of quick tips for how to deal with family pictures on the wedding day.

Make a list of all the family members that will be in attendance that day.

Next, decide Who in that list is important for you and your immediate family to have pictures with. You need to think that each grouping of family members takes approximately three - five minutes in order for us to gather the people, pose them, and get a couple pictures taken. (Photographers will take more than one picture of a family grouping because chances are someone will have their eyes closed).

Typically you will not want these pictures to take up more than 30 minutes of the cocktail hour.

The reason for this is, that means the remaining 30 are spent taking pictures of you. If you find that you have more family pictures than time allows, you might want to consider a first look. (Click Here! to see our post about first looks) We work one on one with our brides to plan this part of the day to make sure that we get the pictures they are wanting, not only of their family, but also of the two of them. 2014-03-03_0001 Hopefully this little tip will help you in planning out your family pictures for your wedding!
