Brenna & Zach tied the knot in the Scottish Hills overlooking the city of Edinburgh, and then we got to explore the castle a little and take more bride and groom photos! Capturing Magic: The Ceremony's First Kiss Through My Lens

The first kiss is arguably the most special & traditional part of a ceremony! Besides the rings, it’s a tangible act of the union that is happening between two people. Documenting this precious moment as a wedding photographer is one of the most important parts of our day!

Getting the angle, lens, and lighting just perfectly right for that big moment is pivotal! The other ceremony photos are so special and emotional, but the first kiss moment has to be perfectly documented. The emotions before and after the kiss, like excitement, joy, and love, are two of my favorite emotions to capture!

The first kiss is symbolic of two people becoming one. It’s a tradition that has stayed in the wedding ceremony for years and years, and I don’t see it ever going away. This is why it is so important to me to document for my clients who are trusting me with their wedding day albums! It is also symbolic of the journey towards union and the beginning of a new chapter. It’s the culmination of months, even years, of planning and anticipation, displayed in a heartfelt gesture. The first kiss encapsulates the couple's love, commitment, and excitement, resonating deeply with everyone present. From the tender embrace to the joyous reactions of family and friends, it's an honor to preserve such a significant moment, knowing that these images will serve as cherished memories for the couple and their loved ones for a lifetime.

A Guide to Maternity Sessions

It’s so important to highlight the special moments in pregnancy! Even if you choose to have multiple children, each pregnancy is different and deserves to be highlighted and documented. It’s also the perfect time to capture the love, beauty, and anticipation of expecting parents!

1. How to Prepare

The best time to book a session is during the second or third trimester. Your belly is popping, and there’s less of a chance that you’ll go into labor before the session.

Select an outfit that flatters the baby bump and complements the season! You could even choose something in the color of the baby’s gender if you know it, or opt for a white!

2. Location, location, location!

Select a spot that is unique to you and reflects your personal style! You could also choose a place that has significance to you! The beach, the mountain, where you first met, your home, etc.

3. Posing

We want to capture the love and intimacy behind the pregnancy. I encourage photos embracing the bump, and sharing a tender moment between you and your partner!

I also encourage candid, natural moments to capture the genuine emotion and connection!

4. Incorporate personal touches

I love when my couples personalize their session with props or themes that hold special meaning to them, such as ultrasound images, baby shoes, or heirloom items.

There is so much to celebrate during this season of pregnancy and your growing family! Pregnancy is fleeting, so I think it’s so important to document it.
