Why You Should Have a Professional Photographer Document Your Wedding by KlixAdmin

Let’s face it- we all know weddings are expensive. Vendors like planners and photographers put so much time and energy into your wedding, and their prices reflect that. There are a lot of things that couples decide to cut out of their wedding day to stay under budget, and I might be biased, but here’s some reason why a photographer shouldn’t be one of them.

  1. Wedding photographers know the best spots to photograph from during your ceremony, reception, etc. This guarantees you’ll have those Pinterest worthy shots all day long.

  2. We know how weddings work. Need to know where you need to be? We can tell you. Who has the rings? We can tell you that too. In addition to your planner, we are your next in line to help with things you may need during the day.

  3. We have a timeline and sheet of what photos you want, who is taking pictures with who during family photos, and things like that. This way you can have your photos over and done with in time to mingle with your guests.

  4. Who doesn’t want photos to show your kids and look back on?

  5. We document those fleeting little moments you may not remember because the day is so emotion filled- that hug between a bride and her dad, that tender moment between a groom and his best man, the mom of the bride and mom of the groom holding hands after the ceremony, we capture it all.

  6. Odds are you’ve put a lot of time and effort into planning your big day. Choosing the layout of your reception space, deciding on florals, designing your table settings, picking out a color scheme, etc. We will document all of those details for you too! Photographers photograph your invitation suite, your ceremony and reception spaces, and all of those other little details you meticulously planned during your engagement season!

  7. We will tell you how to pose! Trust me, pretty much everyone has no idea how to pose themselves for wedding photos. We know what looks good, and we’ll get your photos looking exactly how you want them!

Again- we might be biased on why you shouldn’t cut a wedding photographer out of your budget, but I think this blog makes a pretty good argument on why a wedding photographer is so necessary!

Let’s Talk About First Touches! by Kelli Conley

As a wedding photographer, I love all of those high-emotion moments during a wedding day. They are so much fun to document for my clients, and I love knowing that they have those pictures to look back on forever. One of these high-emotion moments that I love to photograph is a first touch. For those that don’t know, a first touch is when the bride and groom have a moment together before their ceremony, but they are not seeing each other yet. Usually there is a wall or something in between the two of them, but this is a good time to get those pre-ceremony jitters out and share a minute just holding the other one’s hand and maybe reading some private vows to each other. It’s a super emotional moment because you’ve spent the whole day with your respective bridal party getting ready and becoming nervous yet excited for the ceremony and you’re finally able to spend a little time together before your big walk. You’ve hopefully taken the morning in, and now you’re realizing that this is your wedding day, and it’s finally here.

I love a first touch because it’s a good way to save the traditional “see you for the first time at the aisle” but still lets the bride and groom have a minute together. I also love it because of the incredible emotions filled photos that come from it too! Here are some of my favorite first look photos! ↓

Sometimes brides come into their wedding day with a list of photo ideas/ poses that they’ve seen that they want to do. Other brides let us as their photographers do the positioning and posing for them, or some are a mix of both and there is absolutely no wrong way to do it! Here is just a basic list of photos that you can expect to do/ can ask your photographer to do on your big day!

Getting ready photos! The focus is all on you! This can make some people feel a bit awkward, but we’re here to make you feel as comfortable as possible with all the attention on you. Our best advice is to just embrace it, it’ll go by fast!

Bridal party photos! And not pictured- family photos. Your photographer will ask you ahead of time for a shot list of who is in what picture and things like that, so be ready for your face to hurt from smiling so much! This is also a good time to mention different poses for you and your bridal party to do if you have some.

The first dance! Another situation that can feel a bit uncomfortable since you’re dancing in front of all your guests. But, just remember that they are your closest friends and family who came just to celebrate you!

A huge one- newlywed photos! This is also a great category to have pose ideas that you want to try, and give those to your photographer ahead of time. Also be thinking if you want sunset photos, and let your photographer know about that too!

Exit photos! End your night in a bang! These photos are always so much fun and a great way to end the night, so think about what exit item you want to give your guests!

Lastly, remember- your photographer is here for you and your spouse. We are here to make your wedding day vision come to life into tangible photos, and we love to do what we do. Don’t be afraid to try new ideas and go out of your comfort zone!

Styled Shoots & Why We Do Them by Kelli Conley

If you follow any type of wedding vendor on social media, chances are you’ve seen photos of a styled shoot. A styled shoot is basically exactly what it sounds like, a team of vendors use their creativity and expertise to create a fake wedding, and use the photos of their “product” for brand promotion! The photos included in this blog are from a styled shoot that Mint To Be Weddings designed and coordinated a couple years ago!

Styled shoots are a really great thing to do for many reasons! They can really get all the vendors’ creative juices flowing. Usually the planner gives the vendors a design board with the vision, and then they can take that vision and run with it! So, it’s really great practice for when a bride/ client wants to do something different.

Another reason is that styled shoots gives vendors the opportunity to work with and meet other companies in the industry that maybe they otherwise wouldn’t meet, or just haven’t met yet. It’s great for networking and getting your name out there!

It is also great practice to work with other vendors closely. This helps makes our clients wedding days more seamless when all vendors work well together to create a vision!

Styled shoots also give us an excuse to try new things we haven’t seen or done before for a wedding. We can do riskier designs, or different photography poses or styles than we normally stick with!

All in all, styled shoots are so much fun, and benefit all vendors involved in multiple ways!
