Erica + Logan | An Engagement Session by KlixAdmin

It’s no secret I love an engagement session with my couples! It lets us get to know each other better, and gets them feeling comfortable in front of my camera before the big day! If you’re looking for more information on engagement sessions like what to wear, how to prepare for it, and things like that click here to read one of our previous blogs all about engagement sessions!

I had the privilege of working with Erica + Logan a couple weeks ago for their engagement session and it was so much fun! I sent them their album earlier last week, and thought I just had to share on here!

Everything You Need to Know About Engagement Sessions! by KlixAdmin

Our mini series this week on Instagram was all about tips, tricks, & fun facts about engagement sessions! Our biggest goal is having our couples feel 100% confident in front of the camera, so hopefully these tips make you feel prepared and excited for your session!

  1. Choose a location that's meaningful to you as a couple-it's a great way to tell
    your story!

  2. The golden hour (just before sunset) provides the best natural light for dreamy engagement photos

  3. Incorporating personal items, like a favorite book or picnic blanket, adds a unique touch to your session!

  4. Bring along a change of outfits to add variety to your photos and keep things fresh!

  5. Engaging in activities you love can make your session more authentic and fun!

  6. Communication is key! Discuss poses and styles you like with your photographer to capture your vision.

  7. Laughter is contagious! Don't be afraid to be playful-those candid moments often become the favorites!

  8. Don't stress about being perfect-just relax and enjoy each other's company!

  9. Morning sessions can be just as magical as golden hour, especially for capturing soft light!

  10. Wear comfortable shoes! You'll be moving around, and comfort helps you enjoy your session even more.

An engagement session can also be looked at as a trial run for your wedding day! See what poses you like or dislike, and take this time to get comfortable in front of the camera! At the end of the day, it’s all about you and your partner, so just forget about everything else and be in that moment!

Photography for me doesn’t stop at engagement photos and then the wedding. I am also along for the ride of wherever life takes my clients! That can be pregnancy reveals, maternity sessions, newborn photos, or even boudoir! (Yes I do that too in case you didn’t know!)

Congratulations again to Jeffrey & Noelle! Thank you for repeatedly choosing me and believing in me to capture your big life moments. Can’t wait for baby girl Nguyen coming in March!

Engagement Photos & Why They’re Important by Kelli Conley

Congratulations! You’ve gotten engaged and now you’re starting your wedding planning process. One of the vendors you choose to book is your wedding photographer. Some might say your photographer is one of the biggest choices you make along this wedding planning journey. They are there to capture all of the important moments of the biggest day of your life, so they will be right there with you as you’re tying the knot. It’s key to choose a photographer that you feel comfortable with and actually like, as well as basing who you choose off of their photography style.

Let’s say you’ve met/chatted with a few different photographers, either via Zoom or face-to-face, and you found one that you think is perfect for your wedding, so you book them! This is where engagement photos are key. Some photographers even include an engagement session in their packages because they’re this important. These sessions let the couple and the photographer get to know each other in a more relaxed setting. The photographers get to feel out what their clients are comfortable with, and the couple gets to see what the photographer is like in this setting before the chaos and emotions of their big day.

More often than not, it is usually the bride who makes contact with the photographer, and can be just her when meeting with them. The groom may never have met the photographer before the wedding unless you have an engagement session. This way, by the time the wedding day rolls around, you, your photographer, and your fiancé will already be comfortable around each other, and it just adds to the ease of the day!

Besides, we’re all for having another set of photos to commemorate this season of life that you’re in! It’s so exciting for the both of you, and having an engagement session captures these emotions for you to look back on forever!

Engagement sessions also gives you a chance to be more personal in your photos. You can choose to have them done doing something that is special to you and your fiancé, or in a place that is significant to you two. We also love when our couples bring along their fur babies as well! The options are really endless!

Vy & Tim | Looking Glass Falls and Black Balsam Knob Engagement Session by Kelli Conley

This session was almost a year in the making! Vy knew she wanted some type of water in her session and we figured the mountains of North Carolina couldn’t have been a better backdrop for us! We started the session at Looking Glass Falls and ended with a windy sunset on top of Black Balsam Knob. These two were troopers in the cold, my hands were frozen after the 20 minutes we spent at the top so I know these two were freezing but would do it all over again for pictures like these!
