Choosing Your Florals For Your Wedding Day by Kelli Conley

There is so much decision making when it comes to your wedding! Just when you thought you made one big decision and got it out of the way, another one presents itself. Today we’re going to focus on just one big decision- what color florals you want to choose for your wedding!

There are many different floral routes you can go. I like to tell my couples to envision what they want their photographs to look like, and base their decisions off of that. Do you see yourself with bright floral pops, or traditional white florals?

I also like to tell my clients to take into consideration their venue. The venue can help determine the vibe of flowers you choose. Are you getting married in an outdoorsy venue like a barn or a field, or are you getting married in an art museum? These factors can all come into play when choosing your florals.

Another factor is your wedding dress. So you want your dress to be a showstopper against white florals, or do you want the colors to pop against your dress? Same with your bridesmaid dresses!

Now that I’ve said all of that, I want to include some examples of past clients so that you can get a visual of what your wedding vibe can look like! I would also like to say that there are no wrong choices! Florals are florals and are just there to add a little something to your wedding, no matter what color!

40 & Fabulous by Kelli Conley

Kia contacted me months ago with the idea of doing some fun portraits for her upcoming 40th birthday! With all the chaos of the holidays and the fact that her birthday is actually in January we decided to do the session after the New Year and before her birthday. In the planning phase we bounced around a ton of ideas and ultimately landed on balloons and the fun of letting them go, because she was letting go over her 30's and turning 40. It ended up perfect and so much fun. We chose to shoot in the South End area for the vibe and look Kia was wanting. We started around Atherton Mill and ended by the light-rail. The whole session was loads of fun and I can't wait to do it all over again soon!

I am suuuuuper excited to share with you that I have been published in Souther Bride Magazine. When we all began planning this inspiration shoot last summer we had no idea that the colors we chose would end up being 2016's pantone colors and the water color and mis-match china style would be so popular. The amazing team of vendors (mentioned below) created such an awesome setup and it really allowed all our creativity to shine through. I can't wait for you guys to see it in print, and for brides to be able to get a copy and hopefully find some inspiration from this shoot!

My Carolina Town Magazine | Fort Mill Strawberry Queen | Dana & Brian Cake Smash Session | yah Photography by Kelli Conley

Dana is such an amazing and sweet person! When I got the news from My Carolina Town that Dana was going to be a part of the cover and I read a little bit about her story (pick up a magazine to learn more), I immediately said this needs to be a couples shoot. I know personally that I could not do half of what I am doing without the love, help, and support of my husband... and Dana said the same thing about Brian!! I truly feel that a wife is only as good as the husband who stands beside her, and both Dana and I have amazing ones. Once she talked with Brian and he agreed to be a part of our little photo shoot I got inspired by my friend Sarah at Sweet Scene Cakes to do a Cake Smash Session... but of course we wanted to make sure we got some amazing shots of the cake and the two of them first! So below is the journey that commenced until Dana, Brian and their super adorable boys got to dive in and "smash the cake"! To get a copy of this magazine and read more about Dana and her story, in addition to some other amazing stories, visit your local Harris Teeter or Food Lion. You can also read the e-version here!
